Night Train to Mombasa (by TheLivingFruits)

Reality travel vlog. The most adventurous, fun and exciting train journey of my life. The train is very old, it is not plush as I’m sure it once was, the toilets leave a lot to be desired, the crockery in the dining/ breakfast car is plastic except for the tea cups, saucers, and the odd silver butter dish (containing margarine!) and honestly the food is not great. However, the train staff are helpful, hospitable and accommodating, the bar is basic, but well-stocked and fairly inexpensive for tourists, fellow travellers will somehow be unforgettable, the sheets and blankets are freshly laundered, the early morning views and sunset if you catch it are amazing, and most of all it’s 14 hours (yep) of travelling history. The train interior is all original, the compartment beds, hand basins, choo lav (!!), doors, handles, fans, fixtures and fittings. I find this extraordinary. I guess it’s not for everybody, but it is for the adventurous, robust and easy going traveller who has a good sense of humour.
